Mike Wallace has another meeting with Dolphins OC Mike Sherman

The prized free agent pickup is not getting down the field, a concern he has shared with the coaching staff.

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Mike Wallace is not performing to the level he, or the team, was expecting.

Now, Wallace has once again had a meeting with offensive coordinator Mike Sherman to discuss his role in the offense, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

Known for his blazing speed and ability to get behind defenders with ease, Wallace’s game has not translated thus far. He only has four plays of over 20 yards, ranking him 70th in the league, Clearly this does not sit well with the star, per the Herald:

“We’ve got to be able to throw the ball deep,” said Wallace, whose seven drops are third most in the league. “We have to be able to back people up and not have people sitting us. We have to balance it out.”

Wallace, who signed a five-year, $60 million deal with Miami in the offseason, was billed as the deep threat who would help stretch the field as he did in Pittsburgh as a member of the Steelers for Ben Roethlisberger.

Instead, Wallace has become a possession receiver, something along the lines of a player who simply fits into an offense, not one who breaks out of it. Miami hopes to change that over the next nine weeks starting Thursday against the Cincinnati Bengals.
