Ravens waive Marcus Spears, Michael Huff

Baltimore made a few roster changes on Wednesday, shaking up the team a bit.

Douglas Jones-USA TODAY Sports

The Baltimore Ravens have waived defensive lineman Marcus Spears and safety Michael Huff, according to Brian McIntyre.

Baltimore signed both of them in the offseason to multi-year deals, only to see them last less than half the season. Spears was inked to a two-year, $3.55 million contract to help bolster the line along with Chris Canty. In five games this year, Spears amassed 10 tackles and zero sacks.

The Ravens also brought in Huff in hopes of trying to lessen the loses of Bernard Pollard and Ed Reed. Huff, a former top-10 pick by the Oakland Raiders in 2006, now faces the possibility of being out of football. Huff played in all seven games but only compiled six tackles.

The play of rookie Matt Elam made Huff expendable, despite being inked to a three-year, $6 million contract. Elam has 30 tackles on the campaign, earning ample playing time for coach John Harbaugh.
