Percy Harvin injury: Seahawks WR ruled out vs. Buccaneers

The Seattle Seahawks will be without two top receivers this week.

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Percy Harvin has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to head coach Peter Carroll.

Harvin participated in practice this week, but the team was unclear whether he would start. It seemed unlikely the fifth-year wide receiver would return so quickly from off-season hip surgery, but there was a slight possibility given his progress.

The absence of Harvin is exacerbated by the loss of Sidney Rice, who was placed on injured reserve earlier this week after tearing his ACL in the team's win over the St. Louis Rams on Monday night. It's expected that Doug Baldwin and Golden Tate will start this week, but there has been no official update on the depth chart at this time.

Seattle traded for Harvin prior to the 2013 draft, sending the team's first round pick to the Minnesota Vikings. He has 3,302 career receiving yards and 20 touchdowns. The Seahawks' hope is that Harvin can return to form and be the final piece of their offensive puzzle.
