Miami Dolphins left guard Richie Incognito left Thursday night's game against the Cincinnati Bengals with an apparent neck injury in the second quarter. There is no word yet on the extent of the injury.
Richie Incognito injury: Dolphins LG leaves game with apparent neck injury
The Dolphins’ struggling offensive line took another hit Thursday night.
Trainers were spotted working on Incognito’s neck along the sideline after he left the game. Midway through the second quarter, Incognito could still be seen without his helmet on.
Incognito's absence could be significant. The Dolphins' line was already under-performing going to kickoff, having given up a league-high 32 sacks, but the unit is also still breaking in new left tackle Bryant McKinnie, who was acquired in a trade with Baltimore Ravens fewer than two weeks ago. Incognito has been responsible for making sure McKinnie understands the Dolphins' play calls, according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald.
That responsibility now falls to Nate Garner, who took over for Incognito in the starting lineup.
The Bengals currently lead the Dolphins, 3-0. Miami is within striking distance and has been able to move the ball well on the ground at times, but that could end if Incognito is unable to return.
