The New England Patriots are "highly optimistic" that wide receiver Danny Amendola will be back in Week 5 against the Cincinnati Bengals, according to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald.
Danny Amendola injury: Patriots ‘optimistic’ for WR’s return in Week 5
The Patriots remain optimistic that Danny Amendola can return on Sunday.

Amendola hasn't played since the season opener when he suffered a groin injury. He's been getting in limited practice and is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game. The Patriots, as usual, are playing coy with the injury reports. Tight end Rob Gronkowski is also listed as questionable, but Howe says the team remains "highly pessimistic" about his status and may be targeting a Week 6 return.
If Amendola comes back on Sunday, he will be a boost to a passing offense sorely lacking in reliable playmakers. Julian Edelman has been Tom Brady's go-to man with 34 catches on the season. Kenbrell Thompkins has dealt with inconsistency and Aaron Dobson is banged up. Amendola's game day status may depend on how he does in Sunday morning's pregame warmups.
