The Patriots have spent the early part of the season winning ugly games, but on Sunday the Bengals won the tough game. New England has been dealing with a long list of injuries early in 2013, so it’s impressive that Week 5 was the team’s first loss.

But the folks over at Pats Pulpit are trying not to overreact after the ugly loss:

The loss for the Patriots is their first in the regular season since Week 15 of last year. Brady being held under 50-percent passing has not occurred since Week 15 of the 2009 season. He has seven touchdowns and three interceptions through five games this season.

Brady finished the first half with just 90 yards and looked uncomfortable in the pocket when faced with an overwhelming Bengals’ pass rush. One of these occurred late in the first half when Dalton threw across his body into double coverage, resulting in an interception.

Nate Solder is a fine offensive tackle. As a tight end, he leaves a little to be desired. Of course, it wasn’t really his fault he didn’t make this touchdown catch in the fourth quarter against Cincinnati. Tom Brady overthrew him.

Gronk totally would have had that.

New England and Cincinnati are tied at 3-3 in the first half, and it will take a huge jump by the Patriots’ receivers if they hope to stay in-step in the second half.

Andy Dalton knows he messed up

Andy Dalton made the maybe-not-smart decision to throw while running across his body against the Patriots’ defense. Of course New England picked it off, ending a promising Cincinnati drive, and forcing Andy Dalton to act like this.
