Cam Newton takes anger out on ref

Christian PetersenCam Newton had a rough afternoon for the Panthers: he threw for 308 yards, but had three picks and no touchdowns in a 22-6 loss to the Cardinals. So he decided to take out some of his frustrations on a hapless ref:
It looks like that might have gotten deflected at the line, but still, I’m thinking Cam might just be taking a page out of Adam Sandler’s playbook in that really mediocre remake of “The Longest Yard:”

Despite the win, Carson Palmer put up an ugly stat line, completing 19-of-28 passes for just 175 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. Cam Newton wasn’t any better, also throwing three interceptions.

The Cardinals are likely getting the early nod in the betting due to their 2-2 record, but home-field advantage certainly doesn’t hurt things. Such an advantage is usually good for a three- to four-point swing in the odds. It’s also possible odds makers legitimately consider Arizona the better team, but expect Carolina to be fresh after the bye week.
The line has moved throughout the week on most books, as well. It’s generally narrowed, with the closest to even having Arizona as a 1.5-point favorite. You can also find the line in between those numbers, with some books at 1.5 points and others at two points -- so you have a choice.
