Atlanta Falcons fans probably weren't expecting to be so anxious for Monday night's bout against the New York Jets, but they probably weren't expecting a 1-3 start by the Falcons either. Coming off a loss to the New England Patriots at the Georgia Dome, the Falcons will be in must-win mode, lest they put themselves even more squarely behind the 8-ball as they try to make the playoffs.
How to watch Jets vs. Falcons 2013 online, TV schedule, radio and more
The Falcons are in must-win mode after a 1-3 start. Fortunately for them, they’ll be hosting a hobbled Jets squad at the Georgia Dome on Monday night.
Luckily for the Falcons, the Jets are a mess right now. They were beat soundly by the Tennessee Titans in Week 4, 38-13, and may be down their top two wideouts, Santonio Holmes and Stephen Hill, due to injuries. Geno Smith needs as much support as he can get. Unfortunately, his supporting cast is dwindling.
Key for the Falcons will be finding some semblance of a running game. The team ranks 23rd in the NFL averaging 82 yards rushing per game. Get things going with Jacquizz Rodgers and Jason Snelling, and the Falcons should win handily. Struggle again, and the game could be closer than the Falcons would like.
