Bills promote QB Thad Lewis from practice squad, will start Week 6
Buffalo has decided on a signal-caller to fill in for the injured E.J. Manuel.

Lewis was on the practice squad this year for Buffalo, but head coach Doug Marrone has decided to give him a chance in the wake of E.J. Manuel's sprained LCL. With Manuel out 4-8 weeks with the knee injury and only undrafted rookie free agent quarterback Jeff Tuel left on the active roster, Marrone had to make a tough choice.
Lewis, in his second season out of Duke University, started one game for the Cleveland Browns last year. Lewis completed 22 of 32 passes for 204 yards to go with a touchdown and an interception against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Tuel, on the other hand, had a rough debut versus Cleveland on Thursday night. The rookie hit on 8 of 20 passes for 80 yards and a pick in his team’s 37-24 loss.
