Jay Cutler injury: Bears QB hurts ankle late vs. Lions

Jay Cutler was forced to leave Sunday’s game late in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury. His status for Week 11 is unknown.

Jay Cutler left Sunday's game between the Chicago Bears and the Detroit Lions late in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury. Backup quarterback Josh McCown entered the game on the Bears' next offensive possession and led the team on a touchdown drive that ended with a failed two-point conversion attempt.

Needing those two points to tie the game, Chicago went on to lose at home, 21-19.

Cutler had reportedly been dealing with the injury since the first half of the game. He was taped up at halftime, according to ESPN's Jeff Dickerson, but the injury still worsened and affected his mobility in the pocket. An MRI came back negative, and Cutler said after the game that he is walking, but the quarterback also added that he is unsure whether he will suit up next week against the Baltimore Ravens.

The injury was reportedly unrelated to the groin injury that held him out of last week's win against the Green Bay Packers. Cutler finished Sunday's game 21-for-40 passing for 250 yards, one touchdown and one interception. McCown went 6-for-9 for 62 yards and a touchdown in relief.
