Cardinals vs. Jaguars 2013 results: Arizona holds off Jacksonville, 27-14

The Jaguars made things interesting early on, but Arizona’s defense held them off down the stretch. The Cardinals are now 6-4 this season.

The Arizona Cardinals avoided a major upset and held off the Jacksonville Jaguars, 27-14, on Sunday afternoon. They move to 6-4 on the season.

The Jaguars got off to a rousing start in the game. On their opening possession, they went for it on fourth down and ended up getting a 62-yard touchdown pass from Danny Noble. Arizona quickly struck back with a 14-yard score to Larry Fitzgerald, but the Jaguars drove right back down the field. Maurice Jones-Drew punched it in from the goal line to give the Jaguars a 14-7 lead. Carson Palmer led a drive late in the second quarter and the Cardinals tied the game with a 5-yard run by Rashard Mendenhall. The two teams went into halftime tied, 14-14.

The Cardinals took the lead for the first time in the third quarter with a field goal. They blew the game open on the next drive, when Carson Palmer hooked up with Michael Floyd for a 91-yard score. It's the longest passing play in the NFL this season. Neither team managed to do anything of note in the fourth quarter and the Cardinals walked away with another win.

Fantasy studs and duds

Carson Palmer feasted on the Jaguars' defense, racking up 419 passing yards and two touchdowns. Cecil Shorts III had another disappointing performance, getting just two catches for 22 yards.

No notable injuries were reported in this game.

The Cardinals were favored by nine points, according to Oddsshark. They managed to cover.

Playoff Implications

The Cardinals now sit at 6-4 and are very much in the wild card hunt in the NFC.
