Packers vs. Giants 2013 results: G-Men win fourth consecutive game, 27-13

After starting 0-6 the Giants have fought their way back into the NFC East race.

Scott Tolzien played a solid game, but couldn't overcome three costly interceptions as the Giants won 27-13 to climb back into the NFC East race.

Tolzien, forced into action with Aaron Rodgers sidelined with a fractured collarbone and backup Seneca Wallace out for the year, had the Packers within one possession late in the fourth quarter, but a costly error ended the threat and gave the Giants their fourth consecutive win.

With 10:55 remaining in the game and the Packers down 20-13, Tolzien tried to lift a pass over the head of Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul, who was crashing in off the right side. Pierre-Paul casually plucked the ball out of the air as it rocketed over his head and jogged into the endzone for a 24-yard pick-six.

The Giants began the season 0-6 but now sit just a game-and-a-half back from the division lead at 4-6. No NFL team has ever made the playoffs after losing their first six games. The Packers have dropped three straight since losing Rodgers.

The Giants built a 10-0 lead to start the game, striking first with a 26-yard touchdown from Eli Manning to Rueben Randle. Josh Brown connected on a 40-yard field goal in the second quarter to add on.

The Packers were unable to find their way into the endzone in the first two quarters despite an efficient half from Tolzien. He went 7-of-11 for 131 yards, but got no support from a running game that mustered just 13 first-half rushing yards. He was able to guide Green Bay downfield in the last two minutes for a 57-yard Mason Crosby field goal to close the gap to 10-6 heading into halftime. The field goal was one yard shy of the Packers' franchise record and is the longest kick ever made against the Giants.

Tolzien opened the second half with a beatiful comletion to Jordy Nelson down the right sideline for a 29-yard gain, but made a critical mistake when he threw an interception right into the hands of Jon Beason. The Giants would take advantage with a field goal to stretch their lead to 13-6.

New York extended its lead late in the third quarter. Manning engineered a long scoring march, going 6-of-6 on a 10-play, 63-yard drive that was capped by Brandon Jacobs' 60th career rushing touchdown.

The Packers would answer, finding paydirt for the first time when Eddie Lacy hammered in from four yards out to make it 20-13.

Tolzien threw his third pick as the Packers drove toward the endzone in the final two minutes, breaking a streak of seven-consecutive completions. He finished the day 24-of-34 for 339 yards with no touchdowns.

Fantasy studs and duds

The Giants ground game was expected to belong to Andre Brown, but it was Jacobs who found the endzone in his first action since Week 6. That being said, Brown had 15 carries -- for 59 yards -- to Jacob's five, so Brown should reamain a fantasy threat moving forward.

Nelson continues to be a fantasy stud no matter who’s throwing the ball to him, grabbing eight receptions for 117 yards. Lacy scored, but was otherwise disappointing as he rushed for just 27 yards on 14 attempts.

Injury report

Giants defensive end Justin Tuck was taken to the sideline late in the fourth quarter and did not return. No word on his injury has been made public yet.
