Wes Welker injury: Broncos WR evaluated for possible concussion

The Broncos may have lost a key component of their passing offense on Sunday night.

Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker left the game on Sunday Night Football against the Kansas City Chiefs in the fourth quarter with a head injury.

According to Terez Paylor of the Kansas City Star, Welker was taken to the locker room to be evaluated by team trainers for a possible concussion.

Welker was noticeably roughed up by a physical Chiefs secondary all night. Chiefs cornerback Brandon Flowers was knocking Welker to the ground early and often on Sunday night. It's unclear on which play Welker left with a concussion, but he was taken to the locker room and missed a good portion of the fourth quarter.

Even with the time he missed, Welker caught eight of his 10 targets in the game for 72 yards. A handful of members of the Broncos’ passing offense have dealt with bumps and bruises this season, including Peyton Manning. Denver’s offense would take on a different feel if Welker was forced to miss any time. He has not missed a game since 2010.
