Jets vs. Bills 2013: Buffalo owns New York at home

Our SB Nation writers are discussing the Bills’ win over the Jets in Week 11.

The Bills have ended their three-game losing streak with a win over the Jets. Buffalo dominated New York and ended with an impressive 37-14 victory at home. The Jets continued their up-and-down ways with a shaky performance by rookie quarterback Geno Smith, who has struggled to maintain momentum throughout the entire season.

Buffalo's rookie quarterback, E.J. Manuel, had a great game with two touchdowns and no interceptions. His performance was important, as the Bills running game failed to make any ground. The Jets did get 98 yards on the ground by Chris Ivory, but were unable to sustain his success while down by double-digits late in the game.

Matt Warren of Buffalo Rumblings believes the Bills coordinators deserve a lot of credit:

Pettine dialed up the pressure and Buffalo forced four turnovers off Smith before his benching. Kyle Williams had a strip-sack that Manny Lawson recovered inside the Jets five-yard line and one of Smith's picks was returned by Da'Norris Searcy for a score. Jairus Byrd had two interceptions, as well, as Smith was routinely planted in the turf. Buffalo talliedfour sacks - two by Williams - as they were in control all game long. A late 69-yard run by Chris Ivory skewed an impeccable day on the defensive side of the ball.

On offense, Nate Hackett came down from the booth to the sidelines and took the reigns off. The Jets loaded the box, daring EJ Manuel to throw deep and bombs away! On one drive, Manuel threw back-to-back passes over 40 yards to T.J. Graham and Marquise Goodwin for a touchdown. Manuel finished the day 20 of 28 for 245 yards and a touchdown in his best all-around performance to date.

John B of Gang Green Nation thinks the Jets may need to replace Geno Smith as early as the 2014 NFL Draft:

This was as ugly as it gets against a pretty bad opponent. Geno Smith had perhaps his worst game of the year with four turnovers. There are turnovers, and there are TURNOVERS. The turnovers we saw today simply cannot be brushed off as rookie mistakes. They are plays that are ugly on any level. As painful as this is to say, it looks more and more like the Jets might have to look at the quarterback position early in the NFL Draft.

The Jets will travel to Baltimore in Week 12 to play the Ravens, while the Bills will be on a bye.
