It was initially believed Hankerson only needed LCL surgery, but doctors found an ACL tear during the procedure and repaired both ligaments. It will end the wide receiver’s season, and he’ll regroup in 2014.

The third-year player was expected to take strides in 2013. He started five games last year, finishing with 543 yards receiving. Hankerson was able to play in 10 games this season, posting a disappointing 375 yards and three touchdowns. It's unclear whether he can be a long-term starter beside Robert Griffin III, and the organization will wait another six months to see if he can fully recover.
Josh Morgan will start in Hankerson’s absence. He has played in nine games this year, catching 11 passes for 124 yards. Morgan had comparable numbers to Hankerson last season, but has been significantly worse this year.
