Cutler is trying to return from a high ankle sprain he sustained immediately after returning from a groin injury. The Bears hold a 2-1 record under backup quarterback Josh McCown, but the team has been quick to rally around it starting quarterback and talk down any notion of a controversy in Chicago.
The Bears have lost their big play potential since being forced to make the switch at quarterback. The result is a lower-scoring team averaging 29.3 points with Cutler under center, and 23.6 with McCown. Head coach Marc Trestman ruled Cutler out early on Monday, but the team remains in dire need of a more vertical offense that can take advantage of Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery.
Chicago currently holds second place in the NFC North after the Detroit Lions. Their Week 13 game is a must-win in order to secure a playoff spot and push for the division lead.
