Aaron Rodgers expects to return in Week 14 for Packers

Green Bay’s star quarterback is out on Thursday, but believes he will be healthy enough to return next Sunday.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers told ESPN's Bob Holtzman that he hopes to return from his fractured collarbone in Week 14 against the Atlanta Falcons. Rodgers will miss his fourth straight start on Thursday against the Detroit Lions, with Matt Flynn making his first start of the year for the Packers. Flynn previously made a start for the Oakland Raiders before being released the following week.

Rodgers said he does not know if his collarbone is fully healed yet, and no recent X-rays have been taken to confirm the status of the injury, but he thinks he will regain the strength and flexibility needed to return in Week 14. The All-Pro quarterback returned to practice on Tuesday and said he felt “good” in regards to the injury.

Green Bay is 0-3-1 in its last four games after a 5-2 start. With the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears also stumbling in recent weeks, however, the Packers still have a shot to win the division and make the playoffs. If Rodgers returns next Sunday, he will still have four games left to try and help them do that.
