Nick Foles sets franchise record vs. Raiders

The return of Nick Foles is going better than the team ever imagined.

Nick Foles is the Philadelphia Eagles' franchise leader for touchdown passes in a single game, throwing six against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday.

Foles returned from a head injury he suffered two weeks, prompting questions whether the once-vaunted Eagles offense was a paper tiger. That idea has been smashed, as Foles matched his 2012 touchdown total in just over one half of football. The second-year quarterback has completed 77 percent of his passes, and thrown to seven different receivers with five different players catching touchdowns.

Eyes will be set on Oakland to see if Foles can smash a much larger record, the NFL's single-game touchdown mark of seven. Peyton Manning matched the record in Week 1 of the 2013 season against the Baltimore Ravens, but Foles has an excellent chance and plenty of game time to throw two more touchdowns against a Raiders defense unable to stop any of Philadelphia's receivers. A struggling run offense will keep the Eagles throwing, and Chip Kelly could look to make a statement after two weeks of criticism.
