Nick Foles put his name in the record book this week, tying an NFL record with seven touchdown passes in a single game. Philadelphia rode that to a 49-20 win over Oakland.

    Foles, Manning & 14 touchdowns

    Bob Stanton-USA TODAY Sports

Two terms to remember in this comparison are “no-huddle” and “shotgun.” Every one of the 14 touchdowns thrown by either Manning or Foles came out of the shotgun, or in a no huddle situation. Much is made of Chip Kelly’s quick-fire offense and how that helped Foles, but let’s not look past the fact Manning threw four of his seven touchdowns out of no-huddle.

Raiders fans, meanwhile, were left wondering if Dennis Allen is the right man to lead Oakland out of the wasteland. The Raiders have been up and down this season, and Sunday was a new low for Oakland.

Here’s what Silver and Black Pride had to say:

Foles joins George Blanda, Sid Luckman, Y.A. Tittle, Joe Kapp and Peyton Manning as the only quarterbacks to throw seven touchdowns in a game, but here are a few more things about seven touchdowns you didn’t know.

Foles matches record in Eagles’ rout of Raiders

    Ed Szczepanski-USA TODAY Sports

The Oakland Raiders did an excellent job of stopping a potent Eagles rushing attack, but it was a microscopic consolation prize as the passing game averaged 14.5 yards per attempt with Foles under center, while he completed 79 percent of his passes.

Nick Foles was the fantasy stud of the week, regardless of the game. A monster afternoon for the Eagles quarterback.

Foles sets franchise record vs. Raiders

    Ed Szczepanski-USA TODAY Sports

Foles returned from a head injury he suffered two weeks, prompting questions whether the once-vaunted Eagles offense was a paper tiger. That idea has been smashed, as Foles matched his 2012 touchdown total in just over one half of football. The second-year quarterback has completed 77 percent of his passes, and thrown to seven different receivers with five different players catching touchdowns.

    McFadden limps to locker room

    Ed Szczepanski-USA TODAY Sports

McFadden was on the sideline for much of the second quarter, and there was no official update on his status. He had struggled to make an impact in the first half, running for 12 yards on five attempts before leaving the game. Replacement Rashad Jennings had much more success against the Eagles defense, entering halftime with 39 yards on six carries.

Injury is nothing new to McFadden, who has missed a total of 24 games since he was drafted in 2008. He is entering the last year of his rookie contract, and it’s unclear whether the Raiders will bring him back due to inconsistent performance and injury.

    Nick Foles torches the Raiders

    Ed Szczepanski-USA TODAY Sports

Nick Foles isn’t just having a great game by Philadelphia Eagles standards, he’s having one of the best games by a quarterback ever. With just over one quarter remaining, Foles has thrown seven touchdowns, and needs one more to break the NFL’s single-game record.

Just over two minutes remain in the third quarter and the Eagles currently lead, 49-13.

    Eagles vs. Raiders preview

    Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

Eagles head coach Chip Kelly has a point to prove since questions have been raised about whether or not his offense has been decoded by opposing defenses. Kelly has (for lack of a better term) a chip on his shoulder and will be looking to make a statement against an underrated Oakland Raiders defense that has quietly become a top unit.

Pryor has been the focal point for obvious reasons, but the Raiders’ 10th-ranked defense isn’t getting enough credit. They’re allowing just 330.9 yards and 21.4 points per game, both falling in the league’s upper echelon. With more help on the offensive side of the ball there’s a good chance this team could be 5-2 right now, rather than 3-4.

    Eagles vs. Raiders: Expert Picks

    Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

The Eagles are considered 2.5-point favorites against the Raiders in Oakland. However, the entire CBS Sports eight-man panel believes that spread is too high. The entire panel also picked in favor of the Raiders in straight up picks. The two-man crew for Yahoo! Sports is also on board with a sweep for the Raiders.

The SB Nation panel of five is split on the results of the matchup, but also favors the Raiders with a vote of 4-2.
