Packers promote QB Scott Tolzien to backup Seneca Wallace

The Packers have made a move at the quarterback position following an injury to starter Aaron Rodgers.

The Packers will likely be without Aaron Rodgers for several weeks following the broken collarbone that he suffered during Monday's loss to the Bears. With the loss of Rodgers, Green Bay needed a backup to veteran Seneca Wallace. The Packers have promoted practice squad passer Scott Tolzien to the active roster, according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport.

Tolzien played college football at Wisconsin and has been on the practice squads for the Packers, 49ers and Chargers over the last three seasons. He went undrafted in 2011 and was initially signed by San Diego. Tolzien has yet to appear in a game and was signed by the Packers practice squad in September.

Wallace is expected to start against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 10. Tolzien will serve as Wallace's backup on Sunday. The Packers are currently 5-3 and are in a three-way tie for the NFC North with the Lions and Bears.
