NFL picks and predictions, Eagles vs. Packers 2013: Experts favor Philly with Rodgers down

The tide of consensus shifted swiftly in favor of the Eagles after the Wednesday announcement that Aaron Rodgers will miss 4-to-6 weeks with a shoulder injury.

Aaron Rodgers is an excellent NFL quarterback who usually suits up for the Green Bay Packers. On Sunday, Rodgers will be on the sideline with a shoulder injury when the Packers host the Philadelphia Eagles. This is a problem for the Packers.

Put Rodgers on the field against the Eagles, and the Packers are likely favored. Put Seneca Wallace in his place, and prognosticators go the complete opposite direction. After opening the week as 10-point favorites, the Packers are now at even odds to beat the Eagles, according to Odds Shark, if not underdogs.

NFL experts are siding with a surging Eagles team. Four out of six SB Nation experts picked Philadelphia to win. At CBS Sports, seven out of nine experts took Philly. ESPN’s panel was bullish on the Packers, with 8-of-8 members taking Green Bay, though their selections may have come before the official announcement that Rodgers is out. Expect the Eagles to receive some love from the six experts who had yet to pick at press time.

Don't expect the Packers to lay down just because their MVP quarterback is on the mend. The running game is getting better by the week and Wallace has been a productive starter in the past. However, last Monday night's loss to the Chicago Bears suggests there could be bumps forthcoming.
