Texans vs. Cardinals 2013 picks and predictions: Houston ready for litmus test

Experts are split on Case Keenum and the Texans against a 4-4 Cardinals squad. A win could quickly change the complexion of Houston’s season.

The Houston Texans have not won a game since mid-September, but there is good reason for the team to be optimistic that it can close out the second half of the season on a high note: Case Keenum has been excellent under center during the team's last two losses. The Texans lost to the Kansas City Chiefs and the Indianapolis Colts, who are a combined 15-2 on the season, by a total of four points.

On Sunday, the Texans will visit the 4-4 Arizona Cardinals in what should be an important litmus test. Now that the Texans know they can play with the big boys, they will want to prove that they are better than the middle-of-the-road. Experts aren't sure what to think.

On SB Nation’s six-man panel, four picked the Texans and two picked the Cardinals. Yahoo! also favored the Texans slightly, with two of three taking Houston. CBS Sports and ESPN put their faith in the Cardinals, however. The former picked Arizona, 5-4, and the latter was even more bullish at 7-1, with six experts yet to respond.

Vegas currently likes the Cardinals as 2.5-point favorites, according to Odds Shark. Whichever way the game goes, fans should expect a tight bout.
