For a team that has been decimated by injuries this season, including the recent loss of Aaron Rodgers, the Green Bay Packers needed some good news on the health front. They got it on Thursday.

Barring a setback in practice over the next two days, linebackers Clay Matthews and Nick Perry are expected to take the field against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, according to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

UPDATE: Matthews appears set to play Sunday. He was listed as probable on Friday’s injury report, according to NFL.com’s Albert Breer.

Matthews, sidelined since Week 5 with a fractured thumb, and Perry, who broke his foot a week later, both returned to practice in limited capacity on Wednesday and have been cleared to practice fully on Thursday.

Matthews, who had three sacks and two forced fumbles in his first four games, will wear a club to protect his injured hand.

Perry initially lost his starting spot at left outside linebacker after a poor start to the season, but filled in well for Matthews after he went down against the Lions. He recorded three sacks in two games, but broke his foot getting his last sack against the Ravens.

Perry attempted to return to practice the Friday before the Minnesota game two weeks ago, but was ruled unfit to return and was held out until this Wednesday.
