The Washington Redskins are making some bold moves, now making Rex Grossman the backup to Kirk Cousins and making former starter Robert Griffin III inactive for this Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons, according to Jeff Darlington.

The Redskins are making wholesale changes to the quarterback position with RG3 not even dressing.

Head coach Mike Shanahan expressed concern over Griffin's health this week, prior to settling on a starter. Griffin has been sacked 38 times this season and 24 times in his last five games. That includes five times against the Kansas City Chiefs last week. Griffin has started all 13 games this season for the Redskins. In his Monday press conference, Shanahan cited the lack of protection for the quarterback and not wanting to subject him to more punishment behind a shaky offensive line this season.
Griffin has struggled in 2013 after tearing his ACL against the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Wild Card round last January. The former Heisman Trophy winner has only completed 60.1 percent of his passes while throwing 16 touchdowns against 12 interceptions.
Cousins has only made two appearances this season, both in a relief role. The Redskins’ fourth round pick of the 2012 Draft has two interceptions and a fumble in his limited time this year, earning an 0.9 QBR.
