Dennis Allen on shaky ground with Raiders

If the Raiders have a poor showing in the final two games of the season, it could mean the end of Dennis Allen’s time as the team’s head coach.

Oakland Raiders head coach Dennis Allen has two more games to show that he deserves another year at the helm of the team, otherwise he could be out of the position, according to a report from Michael Silver of NFL.com.

Per Silver, second-year general manager Reggie McKenzie is likely safe to continue his rebuild of the team, but the same cannot be said for Allen who is very much on the hot seat in his second season. The former defensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos has compiled a 8-22 record as a head coach with the team and reportedly needs a strong showing to finish the season.

That's a tall task as the Raiders are currently on a four-game losing streak and have games against the San Diego Chargers and Denver Broncos remaining on the schedule. In Week 15, the Raiders lost to the Chiefs, 56-31, allowing five touchdowns to Kansas City running back Jamaal Charles.

The Raiders have allowed the fourth-most points in 2013 and have scored the seventh-fewest, but Silver notes that “several Raiders players” believe the team has a good coaching staff that is “doing a terrific job with deficient talent.”
