Aaron Lynch declares for NFL Draft

One of the top defensive players in the country has put his name in the ring for the NFL Draft.

South Florida Bulls defensive end Aaron Lynch has signed with an agent and declared for the 2014 NFL Draft, the University of South Florida announced Tuesday.

Lynch is one of the top defensive ends in the country at 6’6’ and 245 pounds. Lynch played for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in 2011 before sitting out last season. He transferred into South Florida for this campaign, saying he wanted to become a better teammate at his new school.

At USF’s official web site, head coach Willie Taggart wished Lynch well going forward.

“We thank Aaron for his contributions to our program over the past two years and wish him all the best in his future,” Taggart said. “We look forward to Aaron representing USF well in the NFL.”

As a freshman, Lynch burst onto the scene. He amassed 5.5 sacks for the Irish and became a All-America selection. This year, Lynch has recorded 29 tackles including 11.5 tackles for loss, five sacks and four quarterback hurries.

Much of Lynch’s allure is based on his potential, more so than the product currently on the field. Of course we have seen that type of player picked very high before, a la Ezekiel Ansah.
