Darrelle Revis’ injury is not considered serious, per Greg Schiano

The Buccaneers avoided a scare and should have their top defensive back in Week 14.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had some good news on Monday when head coach Greg Schiano announced that cornerback Darrelle Revis was not seriously injured after leaving the field against the Carolina Panthers.

Revis attempted to intercept a pass in the third quarter when he fell hard on his upper body, remaining down on the field for some time. Initially it was unclear whether the veteran cornerback would return, and he was announced as “questionable” with a chest and shoulder injury. Ultimately he was unable to return, and the Buccaneers did not have a reliable player to cover Steve Smith.

The absence of Revis helped open the floodgates with the Panthers scoring 10 points without him on the field, ensuring a comeback was impossible. Prior Revis’ exit Smith was kept in check, catching two passes for 16 yards against the veteran corner.

Tampa Bay is set to play the Buffalo Bills on Dec. 8 and will try to win their fourth game in five attempts.
