NFL odds and lines, Steelers vs. Packers 2013: Bets off for bout at Lambeau

Sports books have been staying away from Steelers-Packers this week, probably for good reason.

The Week 16 matchup between the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers has been held off sports books this week, likely out of uncertainty surrounding the status of Aaron Rodgers. The former MVP quarterback suffered a broken collarbone nearly seven weeks ago, and has seemingly been on the verge of return for several weeks now. It appears he won't be returning this week, however, perhaps giving an advantage to the Steelers.

Though there is still no line on any sports book at OddsShark.com, CBS Sports is showing the Packers as 1.5-point underdogs at home. Lambeau Field can be a difficult place to play, though the Steelers are no strangers to cold conditions coming from Pittsburgh. The Packers will start Matt Flynn, who came alive in the second half after a poor first half against the Dallas Cowboys last week in place of Rodgers.

The 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff could work against the Steelers. At 6-8 overall, they are holding on to the slimmest of playoff hopes. If the Miami Dolphins win during the early afternoon, the Steelers will have officially been knocked out of the playoffs, and their motivation could wane as a result.

Overall, there is probably good reason why sports books have been avoiding this game. Matt Flynn's Jekyll and Hyde performance last week, the Steelers' threadbare playoff chances and icy weather all serve to make this game rather unpredictable. Bettors may be wise to stay away, as well.
