Jaguars vs. Colts 2013, Week 17: Indy handles Jacksonville to finish season on high note

The Jaguars lost to the Colts Sunday to close a sorry 4-12 season. But it’s not all about winning games. Generosity matters, too, and Josh Scobee is to be commended for sharing his gum with the Jaguar on his helmet:

The poor Jaguar sits there for months on end with mouth open waiting to be fed, tongue blue with anticipation. Finally, someone gave him something to chew on. A deer or a sloth steak or something might be preferable next time, but gum isn’t bad.

The Colts are favored by double digits, according to OddsShark. They had no problem covering.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from Jacksonville Jaguars fans on the internet, it’s that Jacksonville Jaguars fans on the internet get dumped on a lot, but they keep on fighting. Mainly by tweeting DUUUUUUUVAAAAAAAALLLLLL and #DTWD.

The Jaguars enter the game tied for the third-worst record in the NFL at 4-11. Jacksonville is out of the running for the No. 1 pick, but could pick any where from second to eighth depending on how the other games shake out. While the matchup appears to be a mismatch on paper, the Jaguars did pull off a 22-17 win in Indianapolis last season.

The Colts have been somewhat up-and-down this season. They’ve played like one of the best teams in the NFL at times, including during impressive wins against San Francisco, Seattle and Denver. At others, they’ve barely looked like a playoff times with blowout losses to St. Louis, Cincinnati and Arizona.

Due to the Colts still having something on the line and playing at home, Indianapolis is favored by 11.5 points against Jacksonville, according to CBS Sports. For seven of the eight CBS Sports panelists, that spread is too high. However, when picking the game straight up, the Colts are favored in a clean sweep.

Showtime’s Inside the NFL crew is also giving the Colts a sweep in votes. Cris Collinsworth, Phil Simms and guest analyst Franco Harris all went with the Colts.
