Despite finishing the season 8-8 and out of the playoffs once again, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is sticking by head coach Jason Garrett, according to Ed Werder of ESPN.

Even with another heartbreaking loss, Jones won’t fire the embattled Garrett.
There had been rumors that Garrett needed to make the postseason in order to retain his job, but those appear to be untrue.
Garrett has coached Dallas for three full seasons after taking over for the fired Wade Phillips midway through the 2010 season. In those three campaigns, Dallas has played a winner-take-all Week 17 game only to lose all three.
This year has been especially maddening for many Cowboys fans, who have seen some of the worst collapses in team history. Only two weeks ago, Dallas held a 26-3 lead over Matt Flynn's Green Bay Packers at home, only to relinquish the lead due in large part to Garrett calling a bevy of pass plays down the stretch.
Earlier in the year, the Cowboys blew a six-point lead in the final second against the Detroit Lions, who went 80 yards on three plays without a timeout.
The defense also was shameful, allowing more yards than any other defense in NFL history under new defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin.
