Eli Manning injury: Giants QB has high ankle sprain

New York’s signal-caller went down in its 20-6 win on Sunday.

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning sustained a high ankle sprain in the first half of his team's 20-6 win over the Washington Redskins on Sunday at MetLife Stadium, according to Dave Hutchinson of the Newark Star-Ledger.

Manning has never missed a game since being drafted in 2004, but likely would be out with this injury had this not come in Week 17. The two-time Super Bowl champion left the stadium with a walking boot on his left foot and crutches.

The injury sidelined him for the second half, keeping him from more punishment. Manning has endured a dismal season, being sacked a career-high 39 times and leading the league in interceptions with 27 while only throwing 18 touchdowns. Manning also completed just 57.5 percent of his pass attempts, the worst mark of his career.

Manning says he will look back on the season and try to figure out what went so wrong, per the piece:

“We’ll look hard at this season and see if there’s a common reason why we didn’t have success, whether it’s throws or just the offense in general, and try to talk to the coordinators and the coaches and try to figure out what’s the best way to make improvements,” Manning said.
