Cowboys expected to fire Monte Kiffin, per report

Dallas is likely to be in the market for another coordinator after what turned into a mess on defense.

The Dallas Cowboys are expected to fire defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin, according to Jay Glazer.

Kiffin came to Dallas after the organization fired Rob Ryan after last season, following an 8-8 finish that included a season-ending defeat in Week 17 to a divisional foe with the NFC East on the line.

After winning a Super Bowl in 2002 as a defensive coordinator with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Kiffin went on to coach with his son in the college ranks. Before this season, Dallas owner Jerry Jones lured Kiffin to replace Ryan, believing the scheme shift from a 3-4 to a 4-3 would make the Cowboys better.

Of course, the situation became a total disaster. The Cowboys arguably produced the worst defense in NFL history, allowing the most yardage in NFL history with 6,645. Dallas also broke records in an unfortunate way, including an NFL record 40 first downs against versus the New Orleans Saints back in November.
