In an offseason dominated by departures, the Baltimore Ravens also had one of the best, and most underrated signings, picking up linebacker Daryl Smith on a one-year deal.

Now, Smith wants to return to Baltimore, according to the Baltimore Sun.

“Most definitely, I love it here and would love to be back,” Smith said. “We’ll see how it goes.”

“I think they want me back, but we’ll see,” Smith continued. “Only time will tell. I know they’ve got a lot of stuff to do this year, and a lot of guys up [with their contracts]. So, we’ll see. I came in and did the best I could, so we’ll see what happens.”

Smith had one of his best seasons, leading the Ravens with 123 tackles while amassing two forced fumbles, three interceptions, five sacks and a touchdown. Other than than forced fumbles, all of those numbers are career-highs for the 10-year veteran, who spent his first nine seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Smith came in and replaced Dannell Ellerbe, who left in free agency for the Miami Dolphins. Smith was coming of his only season in which he played less than 14 games, getting into only two after injuring his groin.

The middle linebacker will be 32 years old in March, so he might not command a ton of money. However, he likely will be looking for a multi-year deal after being so productive.
