Brian Orakpo would like to re-sign with Redskins in offseason

The former Texas star is hoping he won’t need a change of address form this spring.

Washington Redskins outside linebacker Brian Orakpo is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, but he does not want to be anywhere else, according to the Washington Post's Mark Maske.

The 27-year-old will likely be one of the most coveted free agents on the market with teams always looking for a pass-rusher. This season, Orakpo has 8.5 sacks but has really come on strong in recent times, amassing 5.5 in the last four weeks.

For his part, Orakpo says he is disappointed with the lousy season authored by the Redskins. However, he still believes in the team and organization, per the Post:

“Right now this is home,” he said at Redskins Park. “So I would love to continue to finish my career as a Redskin. Obviously we’re 3-9 so it’s a disappointing season. ... If we get our core guys back, add a few people here and there with all the money that we’re receiving back from all the salary-cap issues that we had, I think we’ll be up for running at another title shot again the following year.”

In 61 career games, Orakpo has 38 sacks, more than justifying the first round pick Washington used on him back in 2009. His best season came in his rookie year, when Orakpo totaled 11 sacks.
