According to the report, the Raiders and Holmgren are discussing a possible leadership role, but a potential move does not mean current general manager Reggie McKenzie would be on the way out. Instead, Holmgren would work with McKenzie.
The role would be a familiar one for Holmgren who spent the last three seasons as the president of the Cleveland Browns. He left Cleveland following the season as part of wholesale changes made by the new Browns ownership. Holmgren has plenty of NFL experience, having worked in the NFL for 26 years. He spent 17 seasons as a head coach with the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks.
Holmgren and McKenzie have worked together in the past. McKenzie began his front office career as a scout with Green Bay in 1994. The two worked together until Holmgren left for Seattle following the 1998 season. McKenzie was hired as the Raiders general manager last offseason.
