Beatty and the Giants agreed to a five-year deal worth $38.75 million, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The deal comes less than two weeks before Beatty was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent. The contract adds stability to the Giants offensive line, but came at a steep price. The contract, which averages $7.75 million per season, will make Beatty the ninth-highest paid offensive tackle in the league according to Spotrac.

The 27-year-old Beatty spent four seasons with the Giants, developing into a starter at left tackle over the last two seasons. He started 15 games last season and would have been one of the top free agent offensive tackles on the market. Beatty earned a plus-22.4 rating last season according to Pro Football Focus, the fourth-highest of any tackle scheduled to hit the free agent market.

With Beatty locked up, the Giants can now turn their attention to other soon-to-be free agents including tight end Martellus Bennett and guard Kevin Boothe.
