The Baltimore Ravens could soon replace the recently-traded Anquan Boldin with a new slot threat. The Ravens are rumored to have interest in free-agent wide receiver Danny Amendola, according to the Baltimore Sun.
Ravens rumors: Baltimore has interest in WR Danny Amendola
Danny Amendola is rumored to be on Baltimore’s radar as free agency is set to open on Tuesday, but the slot receiver may be too expensive for the Ravens.
Amendola, though a different type of receiver, could be an option for the Ravens. Then again, the slot receiver might be asking for more money than the Ravens are willing to offer -- especially since Amendola has been riddled with injuries in recent years.
Still, Amendola could provide the Ravens with a dangerous weapon out of the slot. Amendola caught 63 passes in 11 games in 2012, with 666 yards and three touchdowns. Amendola led the NFL in all purpose yards in 2010, with 689 reception yards (on 85 receptions), 452 punt return yards and 1,142 kickoff return yards.
Amendola appeared in just one game in 2011, dislocating his elbow in Week 1, and subsequently missing the rest of the season.
Aaron Wilson believes it’s a “safe bet” that Amendola ends up elsewhere, but that won’t stop the Ravens from kicking the tires on the dangerous slot receiver.
