USA TODAY SportsAbraham not retiring despite murky tweets

Streeter LeckaAccording to NFL.com, however, Abraham will not be retiring. Ian Rapoport spoke to a source who said that there was “nothing to it” when asked about the tweets. Per the source, Abraham may have been expressing frustration at the free agent process, coming off a productive ten-sack season.

Read Article >Cardinals could take hard look at Sedrick Ellis

Derick E. Hingle-US PRESSWIREIt’s safe to say that Ellis has underperformed relative to his No. 7 overall selection in the 2007 NFL Draft during his last five seasons in New Orleans. He was known as an excellent pass rusher given his position coming out of USC, but he has yet to be the force many expected. Ellis has just 0.5 sacks over his last two seasons, after recording 12 over his first three years in the NFL, including six in 2010. It shouldn’t be too surprising that the Saints aren’t willing to re-up his contract, factoring in Ellis’ relative ineffectiveness as a run defender.
The Cardinals did not take a defensive tackle in the 2013 NFL Draft, though they did pick up Florida A&M nose tackle Padric Scott as an undrafted free agent.

Brian Spurlock-US PRESSWIRETyson Clabo to visit Dolphins

Bob Donnan-USA TODAY SportsIf they can’t get a pure fit, however, then Clabo would at least upgrade the Dolphins’ talent level up front. A former undrafted free agent, Clabo has developed into one of the better linemen in the league. He graded out as the 14th-best offensive tackle in the NFL last season by Pro Football Focus. Clabo is disciplined, and adept as both a pass blocker and run blocker. He’d give the Dolphins depth, and would free up bodies to try out as stopgap solutions on the left side.

Joe SargentTim Tebow reportedly showed up to the New York Jets this offseason in impeccable shape and sporting an improved throwing motion. Despite Tebow’s hard work, however, teams have been trying to distance themselves from him in the wake of his release. One general manager called Tebow “radioactive,” according to the New York Post.
Teams are reportedly turned off by the media attention that seemingly follows Tebow wherever he goes. When weighed against his playing ability, front offices see the distraction as too much to handle. The Canadian Football League, Arena Football League and, sure, Lingerie Football League could be more than willing to accept Tebow’s shortcomings, however.

Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY SportsThe Chargers are still in need of depth, however, and McKinnie continues to prove he is a capable player despite being an occasional thorn in the sides of front offices.

USA TODAY SportsDespite coming off an excellent season, Smith lingered on the free agent market for weeks with very little movement. The Bengals had plenty of salary cap space to re-sign him, but the two sides were far apart on a deal. As negotiations progressed, the two sides appeared to move further apart and at one point reports surfaced that Cincinnati would decide to go in another direction. During an appearance on the NFL Network, Ian Rapoport said Smith’s extension is for three years and is worth $18 million.
The 26-year-old Smith will be in Cincinnati for the foreseeable future. He graded out among the top right tackles in the NFL last season, according to Pro Football Focus, but will have to prove he can maintain that level of play.

USA TODAY SportsUsed sparingly as a runner, Stephens-Howling never got more than 100 carries in a season until 2012, when the Cardinals were devastated by injuries in the backfield. He ended up rushing for 357 yards, four touchdowns and 3.2 YPC in five starts.

The Seahawks have one less potential free agent to worry about next season. Safety Kam Chancellor signed a four-year extension worth $28 million on Monday afternoon. The deal includes $17 million in guaranteed money. Chancellor had 69 tackles last season, part of a fearsome Seattle defense that held opponents to an average of 15.3 points per game.

Steve Mitchell-US PRESSWIRERedskins host Jammer

Donald MiralleJammer has garnered little-to-no interest since testing the free-agent market. The 6’0, 204 pound cornerback has been solid, though not spectacular, throughout his 11-year career.
If the Redskins have sincere interest in Jammer, they should be able to come to terms relatively easily. Jammer will turn 34 later this summer, and has little-to-no leverage in contract negotiations. With no other apparent suitors, the Redskins should be able to add Jammer with a deal near or around the veteran’s minimum -- and could add incentives to sweeten the deal for Jammer’s camp.

Jeff ZelevanskyAfter the initial report broke of New York allowing Revis to visit with Tampa, the impending deal didn’t take long to be agreed upon. The Bucs sent their No. 13 overall pick for upcoming NFL Draft, along with a conditional fourth-round selection for 2014 to the Jets in exchange for one of the league’s top defenders.
Revis agreed to a six-year deal worth $96 million with Tampa as part of the process. He didn’t receive any guaranteed money, but the contract makes Revis the highest-paid defensive back in league history.
Read Article >No deal for Cruz, TO wants to come back?

USA TODAY Sports— The restricted free agent deadline passed Friday night — you probably didn’t notice, since nobody ever actually uses the restricted free agent deadline — and it was quiet. That’s disappointing news for Victor Cruz, who might have hoped a team would sign him to an offer sheet, forcing the New York Giants to either match or let him walk. For now, he’ll have to either sign a tender that will pay him under $3 million or hold out until the Giants pony up.
— The Falcons were talking with Matt Ryan about extending his contract, but they’ll take a break — they’re going to focus on the draft, then deal with Ryan. It’s probably not worrisome, as the team does seem interested in reaching terms with Ryan rather than having him play out the final season of his contract.

Chris GraythenThe deal the three-year veteran signed with Saints for 2013 is for $2 million, but Cimini suggest the Jets would try to extend him if the trade goes through. Though nothing is certain at this point, a fifth-round draft choice has been suggested as the price tag for Ivory.

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY SportsBengals.com writer Geoff Hobson confirmed the signing by quoting Harrison’s agent, Bill Parise, who said, “Any time you can get James Harrison on your team, it’s a great day.”
Harrison has made 617 tackles, 64 sacks, one safety and has intercepted five passes in his nine-year career. The Bengals finished third in sacks in 2012 with 51 and adding Harrison should make their pass rush even more efficient.
