NFL free agent tracker: Tyson Clabo visits Dolphins

The Dolphins are still on the prowl for an offensive tackle. Tyson Clabo is the latest name to check out South Beach.

The Miami Dolphins will bring in free agent right tackle Tyson Clabo for a visit beginning Tuesday night, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports. The Dolphins are still in the process of retooling their offensive line in the wake of Jake Long's offseason departure to St. Louis, and are considering Clabo among the likes of Bryant McKinnie and Eric Winston.

Clabo and Winston have primarily been right tackles throughout their NFL careers, and the Dolphins' biggest hole still appears to be on the left side. If either were to join the team, it could allow 2012 second-round pick Jonathan Martin to take over protecting Ryan Tannehill's blind side, though he isn't a natural fit for the position, either. Ideally, the Dolphins could sign McKinnie or finally come to an agreement with the Kansas City Chiefs for Branden Albert, two players who have spent plenty of time at left tackle.

If they can’t get a pure fit, however, then Clabo would at least upgrade the Dolphins’ talent level up front. A former undrafted free agent, Clabo has developed into one of the better linemen in the league. He graded out as the 14th-best offensive tackle in the NFL last season by Pro Football Focus. Clabo is disciplined, and adept as both a pass blocker and run blocker. He’d give the Dolphins depth, and would free up bodies to try out as stopgap solutions on the left side.
