Few teams had as many issues at safety last season as the Detroit Lions. With injuries and ineffective play plaguing the Lions secondary last season, Detroit is now in the market for a free agent acquisition. Glover Quin is one of the better safeties scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent and Detroit is among the teams interested, according to NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah.

The Detroit Lions are in the market for a safety. Glover Quin is a free agent. Naturally, the Lions are interested in Quin.
Quin spent the first four seasons of his career with the Houston Texans, winning a starting job a few games into his rookie season. With bigger names like Mario Williams and J.J. Watt garnering most of the attention on Houston's defense, Quin has flown under the radar despite solid production.
He finished last season with 84 total tackles, two interceptions, a sack and 14 pass deflections. According to Pro Football Focus, Quin graded better in run defense than pass coverage, but graded positively in both areas. The Lions struggled to at safety last season in part due to injuries. Detroit entered the season with Amari Spievey and Louis Delmas projected to start at the two safety spots, but the two combined for just 10 starts. Erik Coleman started seven games for Detroit, but was released during the season.
With Delmas now a free agent and questionable to return to the Lions, Detroit is likely in the market for at least one safety. Quin said he’d like to remain with the Texans following the season, but the two sides have been unable to agree to an extension. The Lions may be interested in Quin, but there is still some question whether they have the necessary salary cap to make a deal.
