The Detroit Lions and Arizona Cardinals are the top suitors for Reggie Bush, but the Lions are expected to win the battle and sign the free agent running back. The Cardinals released Beanie Wells on Monday to make room for Bush, but on Tuesday Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk declared the Lions the "likely winners."
Reggie Bush rumors: Lions considered favorites over Cardinals
Despite a recent push from the Arizona Cardinals, the Detroit Lions are still considered the most likely landing spot for Reggie Bush.
Similar reports came out on Tuesday, with NFL experts predicting Detroit as the landing spot for the former Dolphin. Bush, 28, spent his last two seasons in Miami as the top running back, gaining 2,072 yards on the ground and adding 78 receptions for 588 yards. It is as a receiving threat that he would be most useful with the Lions.
In Detroit, Bush would be expected to fill the role of Jahvid Best, who has been out since October 2011 due to concussion symptoms, and play alongside Mikel Leshoure.
After releasing Wells, the Cardinals are left with Ryan Williams, who has only played five games in two seasons due to injuries. Bush could still find his way to Arizona, or elsewhere, but at this point the Lions have to be considered the heavy favorite.
