The Philadelphia Eagles will release Nnamdi Asomugha on Tuesday after much speculation during the offseason. Asomugha was a disappointment in Philadelphia after signing a five-year, $60 million deal with the team back in 2011. He was scheduled to make $15 million in 2013 and will still receive $4 million in guaranteed money.

The Eagles will release cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha after two subpar years in Philadelphia.
After a dismal 2012 season, it was expected that Asomugha and the Eagles would either part ways or agree to a pay cut. No pay cut came and a report of Asomugha's release came on Wednesday, March 6, but that report was refuted by the Eagles. Now, less than a week later, Asomugha is on his way out.
When the Eagles signed Asomugha, he was thought to be among the best, if not the best, cornerback in the league. In eight years with the Oakland Raiders, he became known as a shut down corner and made four All-Pro teams. He never reached the same level in Philadelphia and left fans frustrated with his high price and low-level performance.
The move will save the Eagles $11 million in cap space, moving them up to approximately $44 million available, making them big players in free agency.
With Asomugha gone and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie hitting free agency, it looks like the Eagles will be replacing both of their starting cornerbacks this offseason.
