Martellus Bennett to sign with Chicago Bears, according to report

The Chicago Bears will sign free agent tight end Martellus Bennett, instantly improving their passing attack.

The Chicago Bears have solved their tight end problems, as they will sign free agent Martellus Bennett to a four-year deal.

Chicago was known to be in the tight end market with new offensive coordinator Aaron Kromer and head coach Marc Trestman looking to expand the Bears' passing attack. Kromer comes to Chicago from New Orleans, where Jimmy Graham was a featured part of the Saints' offense.

Bennett caught 55 passes for 626 yards and five touchdowns with the New York Giants last year after spending his first four seasons with the Dallas Cowboys. At 6'6 and 265 pounds, the 26-year-old Bennett has a very similar build to Graham and Kromer should have plenty of plays drawn up for him as soon as he arrives in Chicago.

Last season, the Bears' tight end, Kellen Davis, only caught 19 passes for 229 yards and two touchdowns. Bennett, who was possibly the best pass-catching tight end available, is a clear upgrade for an offense looking to become more dynamic.
