The Jets are interested in signing Mike Goodson to replace Shonn Greene, according to the New York Daily News.
New York is financially handcuffed, as the Jets simply don’t have much money to spend this offseason. Goodson should be an affordable option for the Jets, as Rex Ryan hunts for Greene’s replacement.
Goodson was traded to the Oakland Raiders by the Carolina Panthers last March. Goodson spent the 2012 season as Darren McFadden's backup, and finished the season with 221 yards on 35 carries -- good for an average of 6.3 yards per carry. Goodson also contributed in the passing game for the Raiders, catching 16 passes for 195 yards and a touchdown.
Goodson only appeared in 12 games for the Raiders, and has been plagued by injuries throughout his entire career. In 2011, the Panthers placed Goodson on injured reserve with a severe hamstring injury, and was limited in 2012 by turf toe and an ankle injury.
If he can stay healthy for a full season, Goodson could be a very productive No. 2 running back, but durability concerns ultimately limit his ceiling.
