Glover Quin, Jason Jones visiting Lions, according to reports

Free agents Glover Quin and Jason Jones will visit with the Lions -- and Detroit is reportedly “very interested” in Quin.

The Detroit Lions are looking to improve defensively in 2013, and are set to host a pair of free agents. Glover Quin and Jason Jones are scheduled to visit the Lions, according to Adam Caplan and Ian Rapoport.

Quin was rumored to be a candidate for the franchise tag with the Texans, but Houston ultimately decided against franchising the impending free-agent safety. Quin made 84 tackles for the Texans last season, recording one sack and forcing two fumbles. Quin also had two interceptions.

Per ESPN’s NFC North blogger Kevin Seifert, the Lions are very interested in Quin. Houston selected Quin in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL Draft, but look poised to lose him in free agency.

Jones, meanwhile, is a versatile defensive line free agent, who the Seahawks opted against re-signing. Jones appeared in 12 games for the Seahawks last year.

Jones was originally drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft, with the No. 54 overall pick. Jones spent four seasons with the Titans, before signing a one-year deal with the Seahawks last offseason.

Detroit will need to replace Cliff Avril and Kyle Vanden Bosch, and Jones is a candidate to help do just that.
