Jared Cook signs with St. Louis, according to report

Free agent tight end Jared Cook agreed to a deal with St. Louis, choosing the Rams over interest from Miami and Cleveland.

Multiple teams showed interest in free agent tight end Jared Cook on the first day of free agency, but Cook will sign with the St. Louis Rams, according to a report from Ben Volin of The Palm Beach Post.

According to a report from Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the two sides agreed to a five-year deal. Cook is one of the more athletic tight ends in the NFL with a rare combination of size and speed. His acquisition should provide another option for the Rams as St. Louis continues to try to add weapons around quarterback Sam Bradford.

The Rams were reportedly in the lead for Cook earlier in the day, but were only one of a few teams interested. The Dolphins and Browns were also reportedly interested in Cook. The 25-year-old Cook started 11 games during his four seasons in Tennessee, catching 131 passes for 1,717 yards and eight touchdowns. His best season came in 2011 when he caught 49 passes for 759 yards.

Cook has proved to be a successful deep threat for a tight end. He's averaged 13.1 yards per catch during his career. The Titans didn't waste any time replacing Cook in Tennessee as the Titans agreed to a four-year contract with tight end Delanie Walker on Tuesday.
