Jerome Felton re-signed by Vikings, per report

The Vikings locked up a key cog to their offense on Tuesday, signing fullback Jerome Felton to a three-year deal.

The Minnesota Vikings secured one of their key offensive free agents on Tuesday, re-signing fullback Jerome Felton to a three-year contract, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

The deal, which is reportedly worth $7.5 million, will keep Adrian Peterson's lead blocker in Minnesota for the foreseeable future. Felton played for three teams during the first four years of his career before landing in Minnesota last season. Leading the way for Peterson, Felton went on to make the 2012 Pro Bowl while also being named a second-team All-Pro.

Felton played a key role leading the way for Peterson. In an appearance on the NFL Network, Rapoport said more than half of Peterson’s 2,097 yards came with Felton leading the way. Felton’s three-year deal will make him among the highest-paid fullbacks in the league. Felton’s annual salary of $2.5 million would tie him for the third-highest among fullbacks, according to Spotrac.

While Felton played a key role as a blocker, he did not record a rushing attempt last season.
