Greg Jennings rumors: Vikings wary of contract demands

Greg Jennings is asking for too much money, and the Vikings are backing off of the wide receiver, according to a report.

The Minnesota Vikings have been linked to free agent wide receiver Greg Jennings, but Minnesota may be backing off of the Packers' wide out. The Vikings have reportedly "cooled" on Jennings because of his price tag, according to Tyler Dunne of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The Vikings had a need at wide receiver even before trading Percy Harvin and have an even bigger need after trading him, but it's clear that Minnesota simply isn't willing to overpay at the position.

Green Bay reportedly offered Jennings a contract worth approximately $10 million per year annually, but the length of the deal is unknown, according to ESPN Milwaukee’s Jason Wilde.

If true, then Minnesota would likely have to offer Jennings a contract worth at least an average annual value of $11 million per season to pry him away from its NFC North rival.

Jerome Simpson and Jarius Wright are currently Minnesota's top two receivers, so the Vikings will likely continue to search for help throughout the offseason, should they indeed back off of Jennings.
