Former New York Jets and Washington Redskins safety LaRon Landry has visits lined up with the Indianapolis Colts and San Francisco 49ers, according to Mike Chappell.
LaRon Landry rumors: Colts, 49ers visits scheduled
Pro Bowl strong safety LaRon Landry is visiting with the Indianapolis Colts on Wednesday, and he also has a visit lined up with the San Francisco 49ers.
Landry is visiting with the Colts first on Wednesday, per Chappell, and if the Colts like him enough, they'll likely try to close the deal on Wednesday. Indianapolis has sought major upgrades in its secondary, signing Greg Toler on Tuesday, while re-signing Darius Butler. Adding Landry would complete a secondary overhaul in Indianapolis.
If the Colts fail to sign Landry, he'll visit with the 49ers, who are unlikely to keep Dashon Goldson and could use help in the secondary.
Landry was originally selected by the Redskins with the No. 6 overall pick of the 2007 NFL Draft. Injuries hampered Landry in his final two years in Washington in 2010 and 2011, and the Redskins opted to let him go in 2012. Landry then signed with the Jets and was named to the AFC’s 2012 Pro Bowl roster after recording 99 tackles, forcing four fumbles and intercepting two passes.
