The Detroit Lions continued their big day Wednesday by signing free agent safety Glover Quin, according to Adam Schefter.
NFL free agency: Glover Quin signs with Lions
Safety Glover Quin signed with Detroit, as the Lions continued their busy Wednesday.
Quin spent the first four years of his career with the Houston Texans and is coming off his best season. In 2012, he finished with 84 tackles, 14 passes defended, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and a sack. As a result of Quin's production, many thought the Texans would use the franchise tag to keep him in Houston, but they decided to let him enter free agency instead.
Athletic and physical, Quin is one of the more versatile safeties in the league. He excels in coverage, as he played cornerback in college at New Mexico. Quin also played essentially as a linebacker during many third-down situations with the Texans. He was considered one of the best safeties available in free agency and demanded a smaller price tag than Dashon Goldson.
The Quin signing caps off an incredible day for the Lions, who signed running back Reggie Bush, defensive lineman Jason Jones and brought back cornerback Chris Houston on Wednesday. Quin helps replace Louis Delmas and should improve a secondary that was among the worst in the league last season.
